The last few months have been very busy with a new baby, new job, and moving to a new town. We are doing well and I thought I would catch up on the blog. Here are some pictures of what has been going on.

Bryce finished his first year of preschool back in May. We are so proud of him! He starts his new year in the 4 year old class soon. He learned so many new things and became very independent.

Well it is really busy around our house now trying to manage two boys. The days are challenging and full of surprises. It is worth it all to see their smiles. We are starting to get into a routine now and I thought I would share some pictures.

Bryce was in a wedding this past weekend and did surprisingly well! He walked down there, managed to stay still and quiet and walked back. I was so amazed and relieved that it all went so smoothly. Here are some pictures of him in his cute outfit and walking down the aisle.

Travis got down on the floor to do some sit-ups and Bryce watched for awhile and then got beside him and tried to do the same thing. Travis thought it was so cute and funny that Bryce

A few weeks after this Bryce saw the same pony at the Fair and said he wanted Chief. The worker heard him so he got to ride this same pony again.

This is Bryce's pumpkin. He was so proud of it and talks to it whenever he goes outside.

Bryce did not want to put his hands in the pumpkin. He said, "I stand, watch." He got a spoon and decided to use that instead of his hands.

We arrived home on September 16th, my Birthday. It was a wonderful present to come home! We have been staying with family for the past few weeks. We have moved into our house now. Hopefully we will be settled in soon and I will post some pictures of our home.

Here we are at the train station leaving Exeter and going to London. We stayed in London for two nights and then flew home to Tennessee. Bryce is eating a snack while waiting for our train. Yes, those are all our bags.

What a Year!

Wow! What a year it has been! We learned so much during our time in England and we are thankful for the experience. We met lots of people from all over the world and made some great friends! There were many difficult times but through it all the Lord taught us to find our contentment in him whatever the circumstances might be.

A nice friend offered to take us out for the day before we moved back. We went to this amazing park which was so beautiful! Bryce loved the train! We took a ride on it and Bryce got to get in and pretend he was driving when it was finished. We had a really nice time!

I took Bryce downtown to do some of his favorite things since we are returning home to the US soon.

Here he is in front of the bus we always ride. He loves riding the bus and says "green one" when he knows we are going for a ride.

Bryce Goes Swimming

Since the weather here is not very hot, we have been waiting for a sunny day to take Bryce swimming. Finally it happened. It was 70 degrees with a slightly cool breeze. The pool is heated, which feels great, but you have to stay down in it or the air feels too cold. Bryce wanted to be held and wasn't so sure about it. He liked playing with his watering can. Once, as his little lips were shivering, he said "out, clothes on."

Trip to Teignmouth

We visited another local beach town called Teignmouth. The train ride was really pretty going along beside the sea. There was a nice park that Bryce played at but his favorite was playing putt-putt. When we ask him if he had a good time, he kept saying,"again, again."

Bryce is being very serious, as he removes his hat, and concentrates on his putt.

Sunday Funday

Our church had an outreach event, Sunday Funday, where they had lots of fun things for kids and shared testimonies about Jesus with the community. Here is Bryce dancing to the country music.

He got his face painted for the first time. When I ask him what he wanted on his face, he said "red." The lady painted a small ladybug on his cheek. He also got a balloon animal and got to jump in a bouncy castle. He had a great time!

Bryce the Race Car Driver

All of the kids in our apartment complex ride these little red cars (called Bobbycars) down this hill. At the beginning of the summer Bryce was afraid to ride all the way to the bottom. Usually he would let his feet drag the ground to keep himself from going too fast. Now he starts from the very top and goes all the way down as fast as he can.

In this last video you'll notice that Bryce disappears out of sight at the very end. There is an open walkway in the middle of the bushes, which leads down another hill. Sometimes he will turn the corner and try to make it down that one as well.

We showed Bryce how to hold the putter, but he had his own way of doing it. It worked fine for him and he would say "Look Me." Here he says "okay Papaw's turn." You might notice that he is wearing socks with his sandals. This is after I gave up trying to explain that he didn't need socks with those shoes and offered him three other pairs of shoes which he could wear with socks. He is very strong-willed and independent!

Trip to Exmouth

My Dad is here for a visit, so we decided to go to the local beach for a few days. We stayed at this Bed & Breakfast in Exmouth England. Although it was a little chilly, we had a nice time and were thankful it didn't rain. Bryce liked the beach and wanted to get in the water even though it was only about 60 degrees.

There is a summer festival starting here this week. Local artists came to the community center and helped the children make hats and other costume items. They are having a circus themed parade on friday where the kids can where these costumes. There was a lady artist, named Katie, who helped Bryce make his costume. He listened so well and really did a lot of it on his own. The whole time he was making it he kept saying "I show Daddy" "Show Daddy." He was very excited and proud of what he made. Here are some pictures of him showing his costume to Daddy when we got home.

Today when we were eating our lunch Bryce looked up at me, with spaghetti on his mouth, and said "thank you mommy - food - cook." Travis said that was the sweetest thing he has ever said and I agree. That made me smile!

We've been trying to potty train Bryce for a few weeks now, and he's been doing pretty good. A lot of times he can go the whole day without using his diaper. So we just decided that it was time to try out real underwear. The ones we got were Bob the Builder, so he was really excited. He kept them dry all day (even through his nap), but as we were downloading the pictures onto the blog he wet all over the floor. Oh well.

Bryce has started to color more and we have noticed that he is holding the pencil correctly. We were surprised to see this since we have never tried to get him to hold it that way, he just did it on his own.

Bryce loves to look at his books and for us to read to him. Travis had been reading a Curious George story to him where all the puppies get out of their cage and the lady in the book puts her hands on her cheeks and screams! Here are a few imitations from Bryce.

Bryce loves to turn flips now. He will get me by the hand and say flips, flips. I made the mistake of showing him that I could also turn a flip and now he always wants me to flip too. He tried to get Travis to turn a flip but was unsuccessful.

It snowed again! By the end of the day the sky was clear and this was the sunset.

Bryce has been sick, so I went outside during his nap and made him a little snowman.

A Day in the City

We took Bryce to the city this weekend, and they have all kinds of things going on for Christmas. He got to ride in some small cars; he got to go on the carousel; he even got to see Santa Claus.

Bryce is having fun with his new toys. It's a whole town of shops, cars, animals & people called Happy Land. Travis's advisor gave us the toys since his girls no longer play with them. Bryce and the neighborhood kids are really having fun with it.

The weather in the UK consists of rain followed by more rain with a little bit of rain in between. So needless to say, the ground never gets too dry. That is why everyone has to buy rain boots. Here they call them Wellington boots. This is Bryce's first pair. As you can see he is wearing them with his pajamas. He didn't want to take them off to go to sleep.

Here is a video of Bryce playing with some of the kids in our apt. complex. What's funny is that they are all older girls. They went crazy when they came into his room. He just kind of stood around and watched. (On a side note . . . notice the sink to the right. It is a bedroom (kind of), but for some reason the British feel it is necessary to put sinks in all of their bedrooms.)
